I found this fascinating quote today:
But the act of taking images holds some of the greatest memories for me. Making a still image is one of the most powerful and exhilarating things I have ever done. It is ego driving, selfish, self-centered, magnanimous, charitable, and selfless all at the same time. The world of dimension and time caught forever – with no dimension or time. A laugh, a glance, a moment that will never be seen again, and I captured it. My way.lighting-essentials.com, A Passion for the Image, Nov 2009
You should read the whole article.
“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary.” David bailey
Why not take a few minutes to go out and see if you can shoot something ordinary in an extraordinary way?
Everybody is always saying, “you just need to go out and shoot something” well, today I took some advice and went to Olympic park in Sydney and Bicentennial Park next door to practice my shooting. Click here to see a couple of the better ones.
What was most interesting was the opportunity to take my time and practice a few different strategies, like fast and slow shutter speeds with the fountain and different angles or perspective. So I guess all those people were right… You need to go out there and practice different techniques to get better!

I just read a post by Scott Bourne on his blog Photo Focus about creativity titled Three Things You Should Know About Creativity most definitely worth a read. Go and check it out now using the link above. Another one is Three Tips For Finding Compelling Photographic Subjects , while Scott seems to have a thing for three’s, the advice is right on target.
I’ve decided to expand the scope of the blog slightly. Don’t worry, I’ll continue with the competitions (a nice big list coming up today).
I thought I’d include some inspirational shots which I’ve found while browsing through flickr. If you see something you like, don’t hesitate to follow the photo to flickr as many of these pictures come from some amazing sets.
Where else do we get inspiration from, but other photographers?
Cheers and I hope you enjoy the pictures.
